A good pair of hiking boots is essential if you are to have a successful hiking and walking trip across rough and rocky terrain outdoors. When selecting a suitable hiking boot for your needs you want to be selecting the boot with the best support and weatherproofing.
Weatherproofing and protection from the elements
Many of our boots offer forms of weather proofing; mainly in the way of waterproofing or water resistance; however the level of this protection offered depends on the specific boot in addition to your personal needs. All things considered; you want to have a durable and hardwearing boot that will last a long time whilst providing you with utmost comfort when walking and hiking in the Lake District, in the Peaks or any area of natural beauty. When selecting hiking boots with the intention of taking part in more adventurous pursuits, be sure to look for key performance fabrics such as Gore-Tex.
Fitting of hiking boots
When purchasing hiking boots be sure to get the correct size. Standard; you might think...however; most boots often need to be purchased in a larger size. Many hiking boots are well padded and sturdy pieces of footwear; being rather bulky and well padded you will often find that you need to go up at least half a size above your normal shoe size. At first your boots may not feel as comfortable as you expect; however, give yourself a chance to wear them in and allow you feet to get used to added padding of the hiking boot. Many heavyweight boots may feel particularly stiff at first; so when breaking the hiking boots in, simply walk around the house in them; short walks to the local shops or around the local park or even in the garden will all ease the process of moulding the boots to your feet.
Lightweight or heavy duty boots
Leather hiking boots are rugged boots; usually offering the effective quality of water resistance as well as being hard wearing and heavy duty. On the other hand lighter boots will offer a greater degree of movement; breathability and offer a little water repellence. Once these boots have been broken in successfully you’ll find that you’ll be wearing them for years; be it on short walks with the dog or 40km hikes; you can be assured that with Mountainlife walking and hiking boots you’ll be comfortable and dry at all times on rocky terrain.
