Synthetic fillings are made up of fibres treated with silicone to increase their ‘loft’, or fluffiness. They are clearly a great option with those who are allergic to down and they are better if they get wet as their insulation continues to work effectively and they dry quickly. However synthetic bags weigh more and have a shorter life span.
