The only way to get all your gear, including your tent and sleeping bag to the festival campsite is by a backpack. A trolley suitcase may seem like a good idea but it is likely to get dirty in the mud and dirt and possibly damaged. Mountain Warehouse has a top of the range selection of backpacks suitable for festivals, with enough space to fit all your clothes, gear, tent and sleeping bag.
The size of the pack you decide to take depends how long you are away at the festival for. For a shorter weekend festival, a medium sized backpack (30-45L) is ideal. If you can’t fit everything inside the bag, look for one with bungee cords and loops on the outside, ideal for strapping your sleeping bag onto. The multifunctional pockets are handy for putting a variety of gear in that you want to be easy to hand.
For a longer festival, such as a week or longer, our large backpacks are ideal backpacks which won’t cost the earth. Features of our large backpacks include integrated rain covers, being hydration compatible, bellows pockets, compression straps, and all have a ventilation back system.
While at the festival you won’t be able to return to your tent so easily, so make sure you have everything you need for the day by carrying a daypack. Our small backpacks range from 5L to 25L. Check if there are size limitations on what size of bag you’re allowed in to the festival grounds. Our daypacks are perfect for holding your essential festival items such as sunscreen, water bottle, waterproof jacket, sunglasses, snacks and more.
When packing your festival gear, make a checklist so you remember all the essentials and don’t over pack items you won’t need or are worried will get damaged. Festivals can be quite mucky, so take items you don’t mind getting dirty and are washable. A rain cover will also protect your backpack from any dirt and debris. Items that you don’t need during the day should go at the bottom, such as your sleeping bag and mat. Keep your heavier items in the middle to balance out the pack, and pack what you need to hand at the top, such as a waterproof jacket or spare socks. Pack as tightly as possible, and evenly on both sides to avoid any gaps to make sure the weight is distributed evenly. Compression straps will help tighten up the pack and make it more stable.
Don’t forget your rucksack liner, to keep all of your clothing and gear nice and dry. Your backpack may not be fully waterproof and in case of any wetness in your tent, at least your clothes will be free from damp. You can also use our liners to store wet clothes and gear to keep the rest of your items dry, or as a laundry bag. Our rucksack liners come in sizes 5L up to 80L to fit in whatever size backpack you have. We also stock rain covers for your backpack, for extra peace of mind, which are fold out and come in packaway bags for storage.
Our backpacks are top quality products which are great value, so you don’t have to worry about overspending on a backpack you may use occasionally.
