Andy - Everest Expedition Trek 2013
Raising money for:
Action Medical Research
The Everest Expedition Trek is from Lukla at 2,743m to the summit of Kala Patthar at 5,545m overlooking Everest Base Camp with Everest views and back over 13 days with tented overnight accommodation.
In memory of a sister (Stillborn) and cousin (5 yrs.) that died from Leukaemia + to raise much needed funds for such an amazing charity as Action Medical Research that supports research into why these terrible events, illnesses and diseases affect the most vulnerable.
I have been doing regular 2 - 3 hour walks over varied terrain and a training weekend in Snowdonia. I am walking the longest glacier in Europe (Aletsch Glacier - Bernese Alps) in August. I work out for 2-3 hours in my local gym 3 times a week for next 14 weeks to improve anaerobic/aerobic function and increase core and leg strength and flexibility. The challenge is also a chance to fulfil a lifetime ambition to go to the Himalayas that did not look possible a few years ago due to illness.
