Ben Nevis Trek
Raising money for: Age Uk Suffolk
Climbing Ben Nevis - the highest mountain in the UK, standing at 1,344 metres (4,409 ft). I will have to enjoy the stunning Scottish views on the way up, as the top is likely to be covered in cloud!
I have worked in the Information Dept. of Age UK Suffolk for nearly 5 years, and every day I speak to older people who are feeling vulnerable, lonely, or simply don't know where to get the information and advice they need. We can inform them about which services (either our own, or other organisations) are available to help them stay independent.
I have been doing Zumba, Aqua Aerobics and walking to help me train. I have recently been to Greece, where I had a mountain right next to my hotel (it was only a quarter of the size of Ben Nevis though!), so I took the opportunity to climb that several times over the fortnight that I was there! With five weeks to go, I am aiming to "up" the amount of training I am doing, and fit in some longer walks - although living in Suffolk, there aren't many mountains, or even big hills to practice on!
