Icelandic Lava Trek
Raising money for NSPCC
The Challenge
The challenge is to walk the Landmannalaugar route, which goes through one of the most actively volcanic areas of Iceland, the days are long the terrain is difficult, and you sleep in a tent.
The Charity
The NSPCC is very close to my heart, I have worked with children for many years, and know what it is like to bullied, neglected or abused, all too often children can not make themselves heard when they reach out for help, my charity does listen, does believe the unbelievable and does work with both the child and the family to help put things right.
The Training
My training began 4 years ago, when I got off my more than ample bottom gave up a 25 cigarette a day habit, taught myself how to run a marathon, ran a marathon, then sadly after my darling sister Karen died in October 2011, I began endurance walking, I now do roughly 30 miles a week regardless of weather, reluctantly keep an eye on my weight, as although I am a largish lady, I could easily be a lot larger. I also use an exercise bike to improve cardio fitness and enjoy swimming.
