My first ever endurance event as a non runner, a 42km marathon through the Amazon Jungle in Brazil, 99% humidity, temperatures of 40C, and encounters with jungle wildlife.
I've chosen TCT because they provide food, education, and medical care to some 4000 orphans across Thailand, some are refugees, and some lost family in a tsunami. I was so taken with their work that I made them the official charity for my 2014, 8 month row across the Pacific Ocean with my team Fourbirdsaboating.
For the past 18 months I've been training to row 7200 miles across the Pacific Ocean, and then I entered a raffle through a social enterprise called My Million to One. Rather unexpectedly, having never won anything in my life, I won their first prize in the raffle: a place on the Jungle Marathon. So I have two months to get myself into running and 'jungle fit'. I'm pretty nervous, but what a great opportunity to raise funds for my favourite charity and to really up my training for the ocean row
