Kingsland & Legacy Wines - Great Wall of China Charity Trek
Raising money for:
Brain Tumour Research
Kingsland & Legacy Wines
In April a team of employees from both Kingsland and Legacy Wines endured a vigorous 5 day adventure trekking the Great Wall of China, over a distance of 50km and spanning 7 hours of hiking per day.
The inspiration for the trek was very personal to the team. One of our senior manager’s 9 year old daughter Abigail was diagnosed with a particular aggressive malignant tumour around 2 years ago. Following a major operation and subsequent treatment over a 20 month period, Abigail unfortunately lost her battle and passed away very recently.
Each individual undertook various training regimes in order to get fit for the big adventure, especially as the journey included trekking some of the most derelict parts of the wall. The team also held various fundraising activities at work including baking competitions, buffets, raffles and also a 5-a-side football competition. The challenge has helped to raise just over £38k for the very under-funded Brain Tumour Research and we would love the opportunity to be able to hit the £40k milestone.
