London to Sydney Cycle Challenge - 20,000km!
Raising money for SolarAid
The Challenge
Bike to the Future is a cycle expedition around the globe. I am cycling 20,000km from London to Sydney. Through Europe over the Alps, across Asia to the Himalayas and finally cycling across Australia!
The Charity
James is fundraising for a charity called Solar Aid, whose goal is to eradicate kerosene lamps from Africa by the end of the decade. Kerosene lamps present a huge problem in the developing world, where access to electricity isn’t as simple as plugging into the wall. Solar Aid aim to eradicate this problem by providing access to micro solar power.
The Training
Starting in Europe, I cycled across the Alps before following the river Danube to the Black sea, through Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Iran in the Middle East. From thereI took on the hectic roads of India and cycled into the foothills of the Himalaya in Nepal, taking a break from the bike to trek to Everest base camp. My route continued down the jungles and coastline of South East Asia before hitting Singapore. I then flew to Perth to embark on a 6,000km crossing of the vast Australia!
