Pounding The Pounds
Raising money for:
The Caw Foundation
To walk the entire length of the Grand Union Canal, from Salford Junction in Birmingham, beneath Spaghetti Junction of the M6, to Paddington Basin in London - 142 miles, in nine days.
The CAW Foundation was set up by my son, Rob Langley-Swain, to raise funds for Children and young people of limited means, working with not-for-profit organisations, to undertake community projects, sport, music or drama. I have just retired (19th July 2013) after a 40-year Teaching Career, working with Primary Aged Profoundly Deaf Children.
I have been preparing since the start of 2013, walking various sections of the towpath - up to 9 miles at a time. I was brought up near the Grand Union, and never lived more than half a mile from it. To raise funds, I produced raffle tickets featuring all 164 Canal Locks on the Grand Union.
