The Care Snowdonia Marathon Challenge Trek
Raising money for: Care International
A Marathon distance trek over 3 mountain ranges in Snowdonia, reaching the summits of Carnedd Llewelyn, up the Devils kitchen to Glyder Fawr and then over Snowdon to Llanberris.
I chose Care International because of the work that the organisation does to help the desperately poor, starving and those displaced by natural and conflict driven disasters. Particularly I want to support those caught up in the mayhem in Syria.
We have met regularly on Sunday mornings since Christmas to do 10 to 20 miles up and down the East coast and two trips to Wales to climb over the Challenge route in bits (Suffolk is rather flat). We have raised over £7000 by putting on a garden party, dance night, raffle, auctions etc. We completed the Challenge on Saturday 29th June 2013 in about 17 hours starting at 4:20 am. It is the most gruelling experience of my life so far. Our combined age is over 350.
