Msizi Africa supports iZulu Orphan Projects (IOP) in South Africa. Our climb is in memory of IOP co-founder Chadd, who died in 2009, leaving his wife & co-founder Kate (mother to their 2 toddlers & 2 adopted orphans) with over 1000 orphans to care for according to the IOP aim: to school, feed, clothe & love as many orphan children as possible.
2 of us climbed Kili in 2010 in Chadd’s memory (dragging 11 friends along) We simply had to, in the wake of such a loss! We were both inspired (having never met one another) by his tales of this beast that ‘nearly broke him.’ One he conquered nonetheless on his quest to change so many lives. It was only after we’d dedicated ourselves to the task that we heard of one another & met. We joined up in Wales to train for Kili & it is THERE we return this year to turn up the pace!
