So apparently it’s summer? Not that you’d be able to tell! Snow, rain, hail, strong winds and a little bit of sunshine has made May a pretty unpredictable month in terms of weather…a far cry from the high temperatures of this time last year.
But let’s not bemoan our beloved British weather, after all, its character building! Instead let’s focus on the things we can control; our clothes. Being prepared for all potential outlooks doesn’t have to require heaving a suitcase-sized bag everywhere you go. In fact, with the right layering you’ll be baggage and fancy free!
Here’s some of the best gear come rain or shine…
This 3 layer style is ideal for summer rain- no matter how heavy it gets! As well as being super waterproof, this style is highly breathable, so if you’re planning to go hillwalking or hiking you’ll be able to maintain a cooler temp. Looks great too with the contrast zip detail!
Perfect for impromptu showers, the Pakka waterproof jacket folds into a tiny bag that you can carry with you on the dodgy days. It’s lightweight and ideal when it’s a bit warmer. For walkers, or even commuters, the Pakka waterproof trouserscould be a real leg-saver!
Little girls will love this jacket! When it gets wet, a secret flower print is revealed, making it very magic indeed. If you’re fighting over taking the waterproof, just let them in on the secret and voila!
A firm favourite with little monsters are the Dinosaur Foot welly boots! Let them loose in the puddles with these on and they’ll have a roaring time outdoors this summer. Saves their trainers from getting ruined too!
You never know, t-shirt weather might be closer than you think. This tee is very appropriate…sums up how we all feel about our weather. Comes in a lovely choice of colours and would look great with a pair of walking trousers or shorts.
If you’re planning on doing some outdoor sports this summer, then the climate t-shirt is a very good shout. It is high wicking and quick drying, so even if you do get sweaty the moisture will be drawn away from your skin and the fabric will be dry as a bone.
A gilet teamed with a hoodie or even just a t-shirt is great on drier days as an extra layer to pop on or off. This unisex style comes in colours to keep both the boys and girls smiling.
Just because it’s dry doesn’t mean it will be warm. A good lightweight micro fleece is perfect for cooler days throughout the summer, and goes well with a gilet or t-shirt.
