Mountain Warehouse has two main types of base layer, a base layer that will keep you warm and dry and a base layer that will keep you cool and dry. All our base layers are designed to be high wicking, which means as you start to perspire the moisture will be rapidly wicked away from your skin and absorbed by the fabric, base layers are also quick drying so both you and the garment remain dry.
When the weather gets colder you cannot beat a base layer for warmth. Designed to be worn close to the skin, as the first of the three part layering system, base layers are a brilliant piece of technical clothing. The nature of the fabrics, often a combination of synthetic and natural fibres, used to make base layers will generally mean that they are highly breathable which also helps to keep you comfortable while out on the move.
A base layer made from
Merino wool is one of the warmest available. An extremely fine spun wool merino is also naturally antibacterial which helps it to stay fresher between washes – ideal for skiing trips, where you may need to wear it for a couple of days
.
Our
synthetic thermal base layers made with Thermatec and are designed to retain your body’s heat and will also keep you dry and comfortable. Our synthetic base layers are made from 100% polyester making them ideal for travelling as they will pack easily and do not crease.
In the warmer months, a base layer for active wear is ideal for hiking, running and a number of outdoor activities. The Mountain Warehouse range of climate control tees and base layers are made from a fabric called isocool which is specifically designed to keep you cool and dry while moving. Within this range you will also find some base layers with SPF sun protection, while is brilliant when out and about during the summer.
