Waterproof jackets are the essential item in every wardrobe. Whether you are looking for something that will keep you dry while waiting for the bus or while hiking across mountains, Mountain Warehouse has exactly what you are looking for.
There are many different styles and levels of waterproof jackets that choosing correct one may seem like a daunting task, when looking for a waterproof jacket make sure you are clear what you need it for this will make choosing the right jacket to suit you much easier.
Shower-proof and Water-resistant Jackets
Shower-proof and water-resistant jackets are great for those ‘just in case days’, The Mountain Warehouse range of water-resistant and shower-proof jackets are made with waterproof fabric treated with a water repellent finish, but are not fully waterproof as water can leak through any stitched areas. Water-resistant or shower-proof jackets are suitable for showers and light rain fall in warmer weather.
Fully Waterproof Jackets
Fully waterproof jackets have a waterproof coating that will prevent droplets penetrating the fabric, a fully waterproof garment will also have taped seams which means water cannot seep through the stitched areas. Fully waterproof garments are windproof also, meaning you are fully protected from the elements.
Hydrostatic Head
The waterproof level of the Mountain Warehouse jackets is measured by the hydrostatic head and is tested by pouring water through a tall cylinder over the fabric, the level at which the water begins to penetrate the fabric determines the measurement. The hydrostatic head measurements range from 2000mm to 15000mm, the higher the hydrostatic head the higher the waterproof capabilities.
Versatile Jackets
A good waterproof jacket will also be breathable, meaning perspiration can escape but rain cannot get in, keeping you dry and comfortable for longer.
For extra warmth a 3 in 1 jacket is a great option as they are designed with a detachable fleece, the Mountain Warehouse lightweight and softshell jackets are perfect for added protection during outdoor pursuits.
