What you need to know about waterproof boots.
A hiking or walking boot with ISODRY lining is what is described as a fully waterproof boot. The lining is an impenetrable bootie inside the base, and will not allow any water to get in through the sole, the join where the sole and the upper meet and approximately 2 cm above the join. It is important to understand that above the lined area water may still be able to penetrate the boot, particularly if there areas of mesh or fabric. In very wet conditions or in long wet grass it is advisable to wear a boot with a full grain leather upper. Boots without a waterproof lining, but that have been treated with a waterproof coating will stand up to moderately damp conditions, however water may begin to seep through if the level of water becomes too much and breaks down any resistant coatings. The way waterproof footwear is measured is the amount of times the boot can flex while in water, before the water begins to come through.
It is important to remember that individual foot shape and walking style will put different pressure on your shoes and may alter the expected performance. Extreme weather conditions may also push footwear past its limits.
