Ski and snowboard science
The more you ski and snowboard and the more active you are on the slopes; the warmer your body will get. Your body will sweat in order to regulate your body temperature; so it makes sense to wear thermals that will wick away excess moisture from your body. Although it may be tempting to wear a favourite tee shirt underneath your fleece; this will most likely be made of cotton, and will consequently will soak up the sweat without giving it the chance to escape, thus keeping you damp, cold and not very comfortable when up on the chilly mountains – most definitely a situation you will want to avoid. The idea of base layers are that they are designed to remain close to you body, thus capturing the warmth against your skin and allowing perspiration to evaporate – the end result is you remaining comfortable, dry and warm; all essential factors when skiing and snowboarding.
Technical fabrics
Mountain Warehouse offers a wide range of thermal clothing; in a variety of bright and tonal colours. Many of our fabrics are made from a variety of technical, synthetic and highly breathable natural fibres such as Merino wool. Merino wool is quick drying and a little pricier than its synthetic counterparts, however, it is designed and treated to remain odour free after a long day on the slopes.
