The concept of the layering system is to wear your thermals close to your skin, then layer further items to keep you warm and cosy or cool and dry no matter what you are up to! It is important to know the value of wearing a base layer. Whatever the weather, from scorching hot days in July to freezing descents in January, a good base layer helps to regulate your body temperature and transfer moisture from the skin.

We offer a variety to base layers to help you stay comfortable whatever the season.

For the cold weather, our Parallel Talus Thermal range is ideal. Made from cleaver high wicking synthetic fibres the Talus wick sweat away from the skin and are incredibly fast drying. This makes them ideal for aerobic activities and 3 season adventures. They are very hard wearing, non shrink and machine washable. Synthetic thermals are great for all sports and activities in the coolest months of the year.

Our Parallel Arctic Merino Thermal range is made from 100% merino wool. Lightweight and breathable, merino wool is 80% as warm when it is wet as when dry. It wicks reasonably well and is non shrink, non itch and machine washable. Merino wool is also a natural anti bacterial fibre, so your thermals will not smell even when wet or damp. Merino wool base layers are ideal for cold environments and stop/start winter activities (like skiing and climbing). No longer will you have to put up with overheating when skiing and freezing when sitting on the lift.

When things warm up, our climate control tees are an ideal option. With a more relaxed fit they can be used as a base layer or a T-shirt. Made from a comfortable, high wicking polyester fabric, this garment can be worn as a next to the skin as part as a layering system or by itself. A UV protection film ensures your skin will be sheltered from the sun rays up to UPF30+. Not as tight as a true base layer, but still able to wick moisture for comfortable and dry skin. Flat seams prevent rubbing under rucksack straps, which means these tee's are the perfect companion for any hiking, walking or active outdoor enthusiast.
