Camping in the rain doesn’t have to be miserable! If you’re planning a camping trip in the UK there’s always a chance of rain, so check out our 10 tips for camping in wet weather to help you enjoy your camping break whatever the conditions.<\/p>\n

1. Pack An Extra Groundsheet<\/h2>\n

If you’re worried about the rain, pack an extra groundsheet to lay under your tent. This will protect it from the cold, damp ground. \"Ground<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Look For Tents With Vents<\/h2>\n

When choosing your tent<\/a>, it’s a good idea to pick one with inbuilt vents. Vents\u00a0will keep the air flowing through the tent, eliminating the risk of condensation. Don\u2019t touch the walls of the tent when wet, this is how water comes through!<\/p>\n

3. Treat Your Tent<\/h2>\n

If you’ve used your tent multiple times, using a tent reproofing spray will allow you to restore the water repellancy of your tent whilst maintaining breathability. Even if your tent is brand new, a proofer will help minimise dirt build up which can reduce the tents water resistance.<\/p>\n

4. Take a Gazebo<\/h2>\n

A gazebo is useful for protecting your tent and gear whilst you set up in the rain. It can also provide a living space outside the tent, so you can enjoy the great outdoors without getting wet.<\/p>\n

5. Be Clever With Storage<\/h2>\n

Separate your dry and wet clothes and always ensure you have a dry clothes in reserve for when you get inside. Storing items including food and clothing in resealable plastic bags will help them stay dry.<\/p>\n

8. Pitch Your Tent on Higher Ground<\/h2>\n

When looking for a spot to pitch your tent, look for higher ground as water is likely to flow to lower lying areas. Avoid any dips or boggy areas and try to position your tent door facing downhill to prevent any water running inside.<\/p>\n

9. Take a Sleeping Bag Liner<\/h2>\n

As it gets wet it will also start to get cold, so if you’re planning to camp in the rain it’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag liner. Sleeping bag liners are placed inside sleeping bags and can add valuable extra degrees of warmth. They also protect the sleeping bag from dirt, which will be important as if it’s raining it’s likely it will be muddy.<\/p>\n
