Q. How do I wash ski wear?

A.Extra care needs to be taken when washing ski wear; you should not wash ski jackets or salopettes with detergent or softener. The chemicals in these products can strip the fabric of its waterproof coating and over time will break down the composition of the fibres. A cleaner specifically designed for technical outwear is recommended for washing ski wear. For step by step instructions on what cleaners to use and how to correctly wash your ski wear, please see our guide on How to Wash Waterproof Clothing.

If your ski jacket is filled with down (rather than the synthetic insulation you find in most ski jackets) you will need to take care of your jacket differently. Please see our guide on How to Wash a Down Jacket.
