Q. Why wear salopettes when skiing?

A. Salopettes, or ski pants/trousers as they are also known, are designed to keep you warm, dry and comfortable on the slopes. They are usually made with waterproof or water resistant fabric and have a cosy thermal lining; some are also breathable to ensure you maintain the right body temperature. The loose fit gives freedom of movement that you would not normally get with other trousers.
