The WALX Team are passionate about promoting the physical, mental and social benefits of being active outdoors and believe that walking really is the way forward (excuse the pun!) when it comes to enjoyable but effective exercise. Having all been in the outdoor and fitness industry longer than we care to admit, we have seen a few fads come and go and we know that nothing beats the combination of natural movement, fresh air and fun!

Our team is made up of a team of experts from sports therapists with over 30 years experience in exercising safely, outdoor industry entrepreneurs and fitness industry experts. In 2004 we brought the concept of Nordic Walking to the UK but unlike Europe, we used the concept of walking with poles, as our Outdoor Cross Trainer.

We developed programmes around the poles to provide fitness walking, community walking projects, rehab projects and social walking groups across the UK. Having trained 5000 instructors and with over 1/2 million people now participated in our pole walking programmes, in 2021 we decided to use our expertise to develop our own range of innovative WALX poles, which combine the whole-body workout.

Working with our partners Fizan of Italy that have been manufacturing poles for over 70 years, we designed the Ergo Grip handle to replicate the natural arm and hand movement whilst walking and easy to learn approach!

The combination of Ergo Grip handles and the unique Impulse 15° bend, has created poles which enhance every kind of walking from hiking in the hills to the Camino, as well as a simple solution for effective whole-body exercise in the great outdoors. We call this Total Body Walking because the poles immediately help you to harness the power of the upper body whilst taking the weight off your feet and knees.

The results and feedback have been incredible. From physiotherapists working in the clinical sector to fitness walking to challenge walks; the poles have had raving reviews.

We have also developed WALX clubs all over the UK where you can learn more about using poles, walking well and exercising outdoors. There are over 1,000 walks a week on our online booking portal and our groups are led by highly qualified and personable Instructors who will help you get what YOU want from using poles.

We also provide online course for those who want to learn in their own time and are available to provide advice and guidance to anyone who wants to use poles correctly.
