Last year we launched our first ever Charity Challenge competition and over 660 enthusiastic outdoor adventurers entered to win £5,000 for their chosen charity. This year the competition is back and it’s bigger and better, with a whopping prize pot of £10,000!
Last year’s Charity Challenge attracted over 90,000 votes and an impressive 50,000 Facebook shares, which we were absolutely blown away by (big thank you to all those who entered)!
The £5,000 prize was awarded to Mr Michaelides, who completed the London to Brighton 60 mile bike ride in July 2013. Mr Michaedlides, who was raising money for the Tree of Hope charity, gained an outstanding 13,871 votes over the two rounds of public voting. The prize money went towards life-changing surgery to help four-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Charlie Grainger to walk.
For 2014, we’re saying hello to our Charity Challenge again, with a total of £10,000 up for grabs in a variety of categories. The public vote winner will receive £5,000; £2,000 will be awarded to the Help the Heroes winner, £2,000 to the Kilimanjaro Challenger who receives the most votes and £1,000 to the 3 Peaks Challenge winner chosen by us.
Anyone taking in an outdoor challenge for charity in 2014 can enter via our website. We encourage you to ask friends and family to vote to help you win! All entrants will receive 20% off at Mountain Warehouse so you can stock up on gear for the training and the challenge.
REMEMBER: You don’t have to be an athlete to take part in our Charity Challenge! It’s all about having fun and raising money for great causes, so don’t hesitate to enter with a sponsored hike or run!
Entry will close at 5pm on Monday 28th July 2014. Voting will then open to the public until Sunday 12th September. The top 10 entrants based on public voting will then be subject to a further round of voting, which will close at 5pm on Tuesday 30th September 2014. The final winner will be announced on Monday 6th October 2014 via our website and social media.
