This month, we partnered with Tails.com in our Strike A Paws dog photo competition! With only a week left to enter, we got in touch with the Tails.com team to find out more about the tailor-made dog food company.

When did Tails.com first come about?

Two years ago we set about creating a better, smarter and just plain simpler way to feed our dogs. Following a year of extensive researching, building, trialing and formulating, tails.com was launched in the summer of 2014. A service that allows every single dog to have their own unique, freshly-blended food that is as individual as they are and that gives their owners there assurance that they’re doing the best for their dog in a way that won’t break the bank.

What was the inspiration behind the product?

From animal health professionals and nutrition experts, to customer support advisors, we are united by our love of dogs. We’d noticed that no matter how much research we did as dog-owners into the options available, we were never completely sure if we’d picked the right food for them. Our canine friends are so special and unique and yet we were feeding them one-size-fits-all, generic food. It just didn’t feel right; we didn’t do that for any of our other family members. Choosing was confusing and without reassurance. Buying was difficult too – options ranged from suspiciously cheap to eye-wateringly expensive.

How does it work?

We find out about each individual dog’s health, lifestyle, life stage and flavour preferences in our 2 minute nutritional consultation and hand blend a unique selection of kibbles optimized just for them. We do this individually for every dog. So, every bag of tails.com food is blended one at a time and each one is different, just like the dogs they are blended for. We even save the owner the time and hassle of having to remember when to buy more as we’ll deliver the perfect quantity for each dog every month. And save them the worry of knowing how much to feed as we supply a free personalized scoop to every customer too.

There’s still time to enter our February Strike A Paws competition!
