The Robens Polarshield 60 and Polarshield 60 Double are self-inflating mats that genuinely deliver on comfort without the bulk you'd expect from 6cm thick sleeping pads. What sets these apart is the clever 3D construction with vertical cutouts running down each side. These aren't just weight-saving features - they create rounded air pockets that add an extra 2cm of loft whilst eliminating those annoying cold spots you get with standard air mats. Open the Peak Valve and the mat self-inflates to about 80-90% in 10-15 minutes, then you can top it up with a few breaths for your preferred firmness. The single version measures 200 x 70 x 6cm and weighs 1380g, whilst the double stretches to 200 x 140 x 6cm at 2730g - both pack down surprisingly compact considering their thickness. With an R-value of 3.0, these mats provide reliable insulation down to around -3°C, making them solid three-season options for spring through autumn camping.
