Orienteering and den building with Steve Backshall

04.04.2018 | Kids

To celebrate our fifth kidswear range with TV adventurer and explorer Steve Backshall, we headed down to The Adventure Learning Foundation at Green Park in Buckinghamshire with 12 children from local primary school, Holy Trinity, for a morning of outdoor fun. The Mountain Warehouse and Steve Backshall partnership formed from a share passion to encourage kids to get outdoors, and to commemorate this new launch we teamed up with the Adventure Learning Foundation and organised a morning of orienteering and den building to get the kids excited about spending time outside!

The morning started off with orienteering and a chance to learn valuable map reading skills. The kids were split up in to groups and had to work together as a team as they were sent out to find various points on their map, with one lucky team getting a little help from an honorary member.

Following a refreshments break and a chance for the kids to ask Steve some burning questions, it was time for den building. Split up into teams again this was a chance for them to work together and built a strong and sturdy shelter out of only the natural materials they could find in the woods of Green Park. Every team did a fantastic job, with one den including a pine cone chessboard.

It was an incredible day and we want to give a special thank you to the Adventure Learning Foundation, Holy Trinity Primary School and to Steve!

The Spring/Summer Steve B for Mountain Warehouse collection is now available to buy online on the Mountain Warehouse website and in all Mountain Warehouse UK stores. The new range has been designed for children between 5 -13 years old, and includes graphic animal print t-shirts, bold cargo shorts and trusty waterproof jackets.

Check out this fantastic picture below of the kids from Holy Trinity wearing their favourite t-shirts from the new range.
